The next sentence: ¿Podemos tomar un café, por favor?
You are sitting outside a café in the sun. Opposite you see a police station, and a demonstration is passing by; everyone has snakes on their jumpers (podemos – from the German “Polizeiposten” and “Demo”, with the snakes for the S). They throw tomatoes at the police station, which ends up badly smeared (tomar). The police officers inside are naturally annoyed (un – from the German “ungehalten”), first drink a coffee to calm down (café) and then come out through the gate (por favor).
