Pola kile luka, molim vas means “Half a kilo of onions, please”.
You are on your way to Poland and laughing about it: Poland (Polen in German) and laughing give you pola. As a snack you buy half a kilo of onions with a smiling face drawn on them – kilo and smiling give you kile. When you pay, the assistant pushes the money through a hatch into the till: hatch (Luke in German) gives you luka. Then the limousine takes care of molim vas.
You will need pola for “half” once more at the end of the chapter – with the half pizza.
