Molim vas, gdje je najbliža radionica? means “Where is the nearest garage, please?” Without a story it is almost impossible to retain – with one it takes a few minutes.
You set off in the morning with the limousine and the vase, the familiar molim vas. Suddenly a large lady on an elephant is standing on your roof: large lady and elephant give you gdje je. The car tilts – very heavily, because that is where the stress falls – starts flashing, and that is a shame: tilting, flashing and shame give you najbliža. Then the wheel swells up, bursts, and with one enormous ear you hear it all the way to Nice. Wheel, thick, ear and Nice give you radionica.
Two parts of the image are deliberately oversized, the heavy tilt and the ear – that is where the stresses are. Work through it in German first, then slowly in Croatian, and practise the speed afterwards.
