Molim vas, smijem kratko upotrijebiti vaš telefon? means “May I please use your phone for a moment?” – a long sentence, but one made of five manageable images.
You are at breakfast and realise your mobile is up in your room, yet you want to order a limousine right now: the moonlight with the vase, so molim vas. You are eating soup with milk and adding a shot of herbal liqueur to improve the taste – soup, milk and the liqueur give you smijem. Then something scratches oddly: kratko. Out of your trouser pocket you pull a watch, and on its dial somebody is drinking a beastly good beer – that “somebody” is stressed and, together with watch, beer and beastly, gives you upotrijebiti. At the end you wash the phone and hand it back: washing and phone give you vaš telefon.
Work through the sentence in German first, then slowly in Croatian, then up to speed. With sentences this long, the order of the images is the only thing you need to watch.
