The first sentence of the chapter: ¿Qué hora es?
You point at your non-existent watch and the other person realises you want to know the time. He takes his own watch, which has a small notch at the top (qué), holds it to his ear and hears the second hand racing along (hora). Then he says it is actually time to eat (es).
