Ordering in a pub

To the next lesson

In a British pub you always order at the bar; nobody comes to serve you. When your food is ready you are called or it is brought to the table, but drinks are always collected at the bar yourself. If you want to show the bar staff your appreciation, offer them a drink instead of a tip.

Pay for the first round. In Britain people order in rounds: as soon as everyone has finished their drink, it is the next person’s turn.
