Do not be overly loud or critical in public. British people prefer to avoid confrontation – being loud in a restaurant puts your British companion in an awkward position.

In Britain it is common to put an offer on the table in a relaxed setting, over lunch or brunch for example. Many big deals have been made that way. And picking up the bill goes down extremely well.
