Business English for Beginners · Chapter 3: At the hotel

Asking for a late checkout

To the next lesson

In a small hotel with five or six rooms you ask politely: Could you offer me a late checkout?

The owner has to go out anyway because her cow still needs dates (could), and after that to her judo class (you). On the way she stops by a man who makes her an offer (offer) and slowly drinks milk that tastes of apples (me a); since he lives in a treehouse, she climbs down a ladder (late). Then the time comes: she is drinking tea, you hand her the check (check), and she says “ouch” because the tea was too hot (out).
